They’re strong, relatively lightweight, and corrosion-resistant, especially when built from premium galvanised BlueScope® steel. Combined with faster assembly times and site-specific engineering, metal buildings are often the most practical choice for Australian conditions.

Cold-formed steel is shaped at room temperature, producing lighter sections (often C- or Z-sections) that remain extremely strong. Hot-rolled steel (like I-beams) is formed at higher temperatures, creating thicker, heavier sections. Each has pros and cons based on span widths, load requirements, and overall budget.

Timber structures are more vulnerable to termites, moisture, and fire, important concerns no matter where you are in the country. Metal buildings also generally need less upkeep, handle larger spans, and stand up better to our unpredictable climate.
