How long do steel sheds last?

Do steel sheds need a concrete base?
While a concrete slab is most common, we can advise on various foundation options, like piers, based on your site conditions and intended use.
What about ventilation?
We offer numerous shed accessories to manage condensation and temperature, including whirlybirds and other ventilators.
Do steel sheds get hot in summer?
Proper insulation, ventilation, and light COLORBOND® colours (like Dover White® and Southerly®) can help maintain comfortable temperatures year-round. Our experienced team of engineers is always here to answer questions!
Will my steel shed rust?
BlueScope® steel offers unparalleled corrosion resistance for Australian conditions. We also offer an amazing range of COLORBOND® sheds.
How are steel sheds anchored?
We provide detailed foundation plans and anchoring specifications based on our site-specific engineering. Generally, this might involve concrete piers, slabs, or footings to ensure stability and resistance to wind or shifting.
Do I need council approval?
Planning permission is often required. We’ll supply the necessary engineering documentation to submit to your local council.
What maintenance is required?
Steel sheds need minimal upkeep compared to their plastic or timber counterparts. Occasional cleaning and basic checks of fixtures and seals are generally enough to keep them in top condition.
Do you offer installation?
We will happily recommend local builders familiar with our systems, or you can use the detailed assembly instructions in our shed kits for DIY installation.
